For the Rapier competition you can bring your own weapon and safety equipment, though we reserve the right to check your equipment and weapon before you fight.
The tournament will take place over three days. There will be three arenas using a ladder system or a small group system. The fights are judged by three judges, assisted by a time keeper and a score keeper. We will have a team of approximately 18 judges plus a head judge. These Judges are chosen carefully for their knowledge of period martial arts and their impartiality. Last year the judges performed superbly, there were no complaints that we are aware of.
All Tournaments will take place from Thursday – Sunday. Those who want to warm up for the tournament can take part in the Prize Playing on Wednesday late afternoon.
The Rules will be finalised sometime in March 2010. We are looking into using a version of Dave Rawlings suggestions posted on Sword Forum International and Scholar Gladitoria Forum, or a version of Matt Galas and Scott Browns rules not yet posted, though we hope they will be soon!
